What is it?
Within the UNAM, internationalization is defined as the “comprehensive institutional transformation process that intends to incorporate both international and intercultural dimensions into the mission and the substantive functions of the higher education institutions in such a way they become inseparable from its identity and culture”. Gacel Ávila (1999)
Background at UNAM
In recent years, our university has established various organizational bodies aimed at fostering internationalization. These include the International Head Office (CRAI in spanish), which operates under the Secretariat of Institutional Development, and the Office for International Cooperation (DGECI). Additionally, collegial bodies such as the Internationalization Responsibles University Network (RURI) and the undergraduate Student Mobility Academic Committee (CAMEL) have been created. These bodies, comprising representatives from each school, seek to promote internationalization efforts and recommend the establishment of specialized areas for their management.
